Nitro Snowboards is one of the few full-range suppliers in the snowboard business; the brand is a step ahead of others in offering snowboards for all kinds of applications, age groups, and requirements. The new collection focuses on new camber concepts, such as the Zero camber and Gullwing, as well as different flex profiles and reinforcement fibers.
More than 20 years of snowboarding and still going strong: Not a single season passes without Nitro’s constant innovative input into developing new technologies and designs. And the focus is always on the target groups, of which there are many! All with different requirements and specifications. That’s why Nitro’s 2010/11 snowboard collection is even more multifaceted and forms a logical series. It offers something for everyone and any occasion — for men, women, and kids; piste, park, pipe, and powder; pro rider or beginner.
When revising and further developing the snowboards, Nitro paid particular attention to the new camber concepts, Zero camber and Gullwing camber. Zero camber signifies a board shape without any camber (flat snowboard), which results in a board that is smooth and easy to turn, forgiving and versatile, without compromising agility and precision. By contrast, boards with Nitro’s award-winning Gullwing camber make for an unequaled soft ride, thanks to the special gullwing board shape that relieves pressure from the contact points on the nose and tail. The (positive) camber below each binding, however, ensures excellent response and control.
Nitro’s flex profiles are known as Urban, Park, All-Terrain, and Mountain. The Urban flex is used for extremely flexible boards, making them perfect for freestyle and rail tricks, while the slightly harder Park flex offers great forgiveness yet perfect response. The versatile All-Terrain flex combines agility with easy control, and the Mountain flex is the profile for high speeds and a powerful riding style. In addition to these, Nitro has come up with a flex pattern developed specifically for women, which accommodates the anatomy and riding behavior of female snowboarders and takes into account their lower body weight.
Pop Band and Rock Bands have nothing to do with music, but with strategically placed fiber reinforcements and stringers that influence the board’s liveliness, flex, and stability. Pop Band optimizes the board’s freestyle performance without impacting on the torsional stiffness or natural riding behavior. Rock Bands are strong nose-to-tail basalt reinforcements that deliver additional stability for a controlled ride.
Experienced snowboarders looking for the ultimate challenge will enjoy ripping with the versatile high-end weapon known as Shadow — the high-performance board with the explosive design. A true twin-tip, the board features a top-quality Gullwing camber ensuring ultimate fun and ease of riding, be it on untracked powder snow or when performing tricks in the park. The sidecut adds energy and edge-to-edge performance on the slopes, while the Powerlite Core and Tri-lite Laminates allow for excellent power transmission and pop. The Rook with its bold skull design has won multiple board tests — and deservedly so! A top-quality, park-oriented, twin-tip board with Zero camber, it rules anything from rails to kickers with ease and style. It has a forgiving flex and Pop Band for added ollie snap and overall trick performance.
Female riders will also be able to enjoy a full range of top-quality new snowboards for all kinds of applications. Graphically designed Mystique is one of the Nitro highlights for the 2010/11 winter season, both in terms of design and performance. A solid, yet lightweight Combat core offers amazing dampening qualities, and the special Gullwing camber signifies the perfect blend of looseness and control. The twin-tip shape, sidecut, and women-specific flex pattern make the Mystique so pleasant to ride that girl snowboarders might never want to unstrap it again. A masterpiece in versatility, the Fate combines a Zero camber and a women-specific flex profile. Precision and control meet forgiveness while pop meets stability. Thanks to the Reflex core and the Dual Degressive sidecut, female riders and their Fate will master the whole mountain, be it on smooth and weightless powder runs, when cruising the groomers, or when tricking and jumping in the park. And snowboard girls are sure to instantly fall in love with the Fate’s charming owl design.
